Welcome to Wayzata's Sound Library 2000!
Congratulations on purchasing a valuable resource of over 2000 sounds.
Including 10 different categories ranging from Musical Introductions to
Sounds of Nature.
SOUNDS GOOD:
Please find on this disk:
Ñ this ReadMe file.
Ñ Sound Lib 2000 HyperCard stack
(allows you to browse, play, copy, copy to clipboard,
search, or play all the sounds.)
Ñ a "System7" folder with ten sub-folders of over 2000 sounds.
These are clickable to play and you can drag them into your system
folder to use as system sounds.
Ñ an "AIFF" folder with ten sub-folders of over 2000 sounds in AIFF format.
Ñ a "Waves" folder with ten sub-folders of over 2000 sounds in WAV format.
Ñ a sample hypercard stack with playing XCMD.
A SOUND A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY:
I now have over 2000 sounds, what can I do with them?
Ñ Use them as a resource in creating presentations, multi-media shows etc.
Ñ Use them as system resources (Beeps).
Ñ Combine them with HyperCard stacks or other Applications.
Ñ Hear them right from the HyperCard stack included.
Ñ Use sound editing programs like Sound Edit 16 from Farallon
to alter/distort/enhance the Sounds. (We do not
recommend any particular program, there are ShareWare
programs available.)
IF A TREE FELL IN THE WOODS, WOULD IT MAKE A SOUND ?
If it is not installed in the system it won't!
Installing sounds into the system:
- you can use ShareWare programs such as SoundMover
- you can use the HyperCard stack included to Copy the
sound to the Clipboard and then paste it into
your control panel "sound" manager or system.
SOUND ADVICE:
There are a variety of sound formats (some are no longer sound).
The sounds on this CD are ALL in resource format 1 'snd ' which is
compatible with your system, HyperCard and new or existing
application software.
Also available in the HyperCard stack is a copy to file in Sound Edit
file format (vs. resource format). Sometimes file format is more
desirable than resource format, in most instances you probably will
want the sounds in resource format (the default).
THE SOUND THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK:
Sounds take up room! We recommend only installing sounds
from the "BEEP SOUNDS" category into your system. They are
generally smaller and should not overload your system.
However, do not load too many -- your system performance
will degrade. How many sounds is too many? -- depends on
your system and memory and what applications, INITs, etc. you use.
MARCH TO THE BEAT OF A DIFFERENT SOUND:
We hope that this CD will provide you with a valuable resource
with a variety of usable sounds. With this CD and its cacophony
of sounds you should enable your Macintosh to march to its own
distinct beat.
